This website began as a Future Vision Project for the UBC course LIBE 477: Special Topics in Teacher Librarianship and continues as a passion project.
As a teacher of 20+ years, I have seen a lot of change in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education. When the Applied Skills and Design Technology (ADST) was introduced to the revised BC Curriculum, I jumped on board, excited about the endless learning opportunities available for my students.
After attending the first (hopefully annual) ADST Summit in the spring of 2019, I walked away with not only a deeper understanding of the ADST curriculum, but also with a recognition that most educators (myself included) were only scratching the surface of what ADST had to offer.
This website is designed as s a digital curation of the “best-of-the-best” of articles, websites, and videos geared towards topics within the ADST Curriculum (with a focus on the K-7 BC Curriculum). What began as a website of 5 or 6 pages, stretched to encompass a multitude of topics in all areas related to ICT and ADST.
At the end of my course, this website will not be completed, but I will continue to work on polishing pages as this has now become a passion project of mine as I continue to be a classroom teacher and anticipate becoming a Teacher-Librarian sometime in the near future. This website is a living document and I invite you to join me in adding to its pages. If you find an article, website, video, social media blogger, etc. that deserves to be listed, please let me know and I will add it to the appropriate section.
